Derrick Duncan and Ryne Scott each nailed homers, in helping lead Auburn to a 16-5 pounding of Galax in a non-district baseball encounter in Riner. The game, which was delayed until 5 p.m., was shortened by darkness.
Dalton Altizer picked up the win on the mound for the Eagles (1-0) in going four innings.
In addition to Duncan's and Scott's homers, Henry Martilla, Ian Lipsey, and Zach Helms had two hits each for Auburn.
Jacob Woodell drove in two runs for Galax (0-1). Travis Cockerham and Shane Cummings also had hits for the Maroon Tide.
