Auburn came out strong in the two middle quarters, as the Eagles flew away with a 90-47 non-district boys' basketball win over Patrick County Saturday afternoon in the 5th Annual Chance Harman Classic played at Floyd County High School.
The Eagles (5-8) took a 16-10 lead after the opening quarter. They then went on a 25-12 run in the second quarter to pull out to a 41-22 halftime advantage. Auburn continued to dominate in the second half, outscoring the Cougars (0-13) 28-12 in the third quarter and 21-13 in the fourth quarter to claim the lopsided 43-point victory.
Dustin Land led Patrick County with 12 points.
Dustin Simpkins led Auburn with a game-high 23 points, including a trio of 3-pointers. Jake Shelburne contributed 21 points, while Jessie Rutledge tossed in 16 points, including two-3 pointers.
