Auburn used a strong fourth quarter to pull away with a 40-37 non-district girls' basketball win over George Wythe Monday night in Wytheville.

The Maroons (7-8) jumped out to a 13-8 lead after the opening quarter. The Eagles (5-7) went on a 14-7 second quarter run to take a 22-20 halftime lead. George Wythe came back in the third quarter to take a 31-29 advantage into the crucial fourth quarter. It was back-and forth in the final quarter, as Auburn managed to pull away for the three-point road win.

Brooke Bostwick led Auburn with 15 points and Kayla Gibbs added 14 points.

Kristen Atwell paced George Wythe with a game-high 17 points.
