Auburn earned its first Three Rivers District boys' basketball win of the season, as the Eagles claimed a 68-50 victory over Giles Wednesday night in Riner.
The Eagles (6-9, 1-3 TRD) flew out to an 18-10 lead after the initial quarter and increased their advantage to 28-20 at the half. Auburn outscored the Spartans (4-10, 0-4 TRD) 22-11 in the third quarter to take 50-31 lead into the final quarter. The Eagles continued to control the tempo on the fourth quarter, as they claimed the 18-point win in front of the Auburn faithful.
John Shelor led Giles with 19 points and Dylan Raymond finished with 11 points.
Jessie Rutledge led Auburn with a game-high 23 points. Jake Shelburne tossed in 16 points, Tanner Keen scored 14 points and Marshall Jones recorded 10 rebounds and six points.
