Auburn earned its first Three Rivers District girls’ basketball win of the season, as the Eagles defeated Eastern Montgomery 57-42 Thursday night in Elliston.
The Mustangs (2-17, 0-8 TRD) took an 11-8 lead after the opening quarter. The Eagles (7-10, 1-6 TRD) took control in the second quarter, outscoring their hosts 20-5 to take a 28-16 halftime advantage. Auburn continued to have the upper-hand in the second half, as they earned its first district win of the season by a 15-point margin.
Brooke Bostwick led Auburn with a game-high 16 points. Lauren Altizer chipped in with 13 points and Kimberly Smith added 10 points.
Danielle Simpkins paced East Mont with 14 points and 10 rebounds, while Casey Smith contributed 12 points.
