In a battle of the Eagles, Auburn came out on top, as they earned a 75-68 non-district boys' basketball win over host Roanoke Valley Christian School Monday night.
Auburn (8-11) staked out to a 15-8 lead after the initial quarter and increased their advantage to 32-28 at the half. Auburn went on 26-8 run in the third quarter to take a 58-36 lead heading into the final quarter. RVC found its shooting touch in the fourth quarter, as they outscored Auburn 32-17. However, the rally wasn't enough, as Auburn escaped with the seven-point road win.
Jake Shelburne led Auburn with a game-high 20 points. Jessie Rutledge scored 14 points, Marshall Jones tossed in 12 points and Tanner Keen added 10 points.
Luke Stump led RVC with 16 points. Cam Spigle and Jacob Webb chipped in with 12 points apiece, while Aaron Holloway finished with 11 points.
