Auburn held Giles to a mere four points in the fourth quarter, as the Eagles turned a tie ball game into a 57-44 Three Rivers District boys' basketball win Friday night in Pearisburg.
The Eagles (9-12, 3-6 TRD), who led 15-11 after the opening quarter, saw the Spartans (4-15, 1-8) come back in the second quarter to take a 30-24 lead at the break. Auburn battled back in the third quarter to tie the game at 40-all heading into the pivotal fourth quarter. The Eagles outscored Giles 17-4 in the final quarter to run away with the 13-point road win.
Jessie Rutledge led Auburn with a game-high 17 points and Jake Shelburne scored 16 points.
John Shelor paced Giles with 13 points.
