Bath County held off a second half rally, as the Chargers earned a 41-35 victory over Auburn in the opening round of the Region C, Div. 1 girls' basketball tournament Wednesday night in Hot Springs.

Bath County (14-10) meets Galax at 6 p.m. Friday night in the semifinals at Eastern Montgomery High School.

The Chargers, who led 18-8 at the half, were outscored 16-14 in the third quarter and 11-9 in the fourth quarter by the Eagles (10-14). However, the rally came up just short, as Bath County hung on for the six-point win.

Jessalyn Monday and Brooke Bostwick led Auburn with 10 points apiece.

Jessie O'Conner led Bath County with game-high11 points and nine rebounds, Elexa Faranoe scored 11 points and Jailyn Ford finished with 10 points.
