In an offensive display, Eastern Montgomery outlasted Narrows 42-32 in non-district football action Friday night in Elliston.
The Mustangs (2-0) took a 12-0 lead on a 16-yard pass from James Fields to Brett Pettus and a 10-yard pass from Fields to Ron Ford. The Green Wave would score on a 19-yard pass from Rodney Perdue to Trevor Hart to make it 12-6.
In the second quarter, a 36-yard pass from Fields to Pettus increased East Mont's lead to 20-6. Narrows answered with a 75-yard run by Gavin Givens to make it 20-12. The Mustangs then used a 70-yard kickoff return by Claxton to make it 26-12 at the half.
A 13-yard scoring strike from Fields to Ford in the third quarter gave the Mustangs a 34-12 advantage.
In the fourth quarter, a 14-yard pass from Fields to Phillips extended East Mont's lead to 42-12. Narrows closed out the game with a 1-yard run by Perdue, an 11-yard pass from Perdue to Chandler Burton and a 10-yard scamper to make the final, 42-32, East Mont.
Rodney Perdue led Narrows by completing 9-of- 27 passes for 125 yards and two touchdowns. He also ran for 85 yards and two more touchdowns on 19 carries.
James Fields led East Mont with 258 yards passing on a 20-for-37 evening and five touchdowns.
