Floyd County clinched at least a tie for the Three Rivers District girls' regular-season basketball title, as the Buffaloes knocked off visiting Glenvar Thursday night.
The Highlanders (17-4, 7-2) marched out to a 36-31 halftime lead. The Buffaloes (19-1, 8-0 TRD) went on a 22-15 run in third quarter to take a slim 53-51 advantage into the pivotal fourth quarter. The Buffaloes outscored Glenvar 23-116 in the final quarter to hang on for the nine-point win and remain perfect in the district.
Jessi Strom led Glenvar with a game-high 28 points. Maggie Wilbourne tossed in 13 points and Kanisha Wiley added 12 points.
Amanda Hollandsworth led Floyd County with 22 points.
