Radford scored early and often, as they cruised to an easy 8-0 win over Virginia High in the quarterfinals of the Group A state boys soccer tournament Tuesday night in Radford.
Radford (19-3) now meets Northampton, a 1-0 winner over Nelson County, in the Group A state semifinals at 4 p.m. Friday at Radford University.
The Bobcats would strike in the fourth minute of the match, when J. Clark scored off an assist from Taka Masuda. Two minutes later, the two would reverse roles, as Masuda scored off a Clark assist. A goal by Michael Farmer off an assist from Kendal Akers gave Radford a 3-0 lead 10 minutes into the match.
Another goal by Masuda, from an assist from Caleb Findley, along with goals by Tino Benitez and a Jay Cundiff would give Radford a 6-0 lead at the half.
Masuda would score his third goal of the game, just four minutes into the second half, and Zack Turk scored in the 51st minute to make the final 8-0, Radford.
Virginia High, who finished with an 11-6-2 mark, had no shots in the game.
