With only one starter returning off of last year's 1-17 team, the Dayspring Christian Academy girls basketball team is looking to improve this season.
The Lions, who are currently 1-1 on the young season, will see Kathryn Shorter (Sr), Dori Mock (Sr), Katie Meadows (Sr), Michele Shrader (Sr), Sara Winter (Sr), Emily Martin (Jr), Chelsea Hobby (Jr), Katy Haynes (Jr), Rachel Cook (So), Rachel Copeland (So), Gretchen Reese (So), Alexis Von Spakovsky (So), Rebecca Goodhart (FR) and Christina Ribbens (8th grade) will be suiting it up this season.
According to coach Dug Hampton, he sees Shorter, Mock, Schrader, Winter and McCormick-Goodhart as being his probable starters.
"Our goals for this year's team are high, as we plan on competing for district and regional titles."
As for the Lions' strengths the coach sees the overall team depth as a positive, while inexperience will be a weakness.
"I'm really excited about the opportunity to teach and build this team into a championship caliber unit," added Hampton.
The Lions return to the hardwood tonight (Tuesday), as they travel to New Covenant.
