Despite a 23-point performance by Alena Hamrick, the Celtics still fell, 36-35, to the Eagles Tuesday night in a girls basketball thriller played at Roanoke Valley Christian School.
Roanoke Catholic would take a 12-6 lead after the opening eight minutes and increase its lead to 19-11 at the half. Roanoke Valley would outscore the Celtics 13-6 in the third quarter to pull to within one, 25-24, heading into the pivotal fourth quarter. Roanoke Catholic would pull to within one, 36-35, win Hamrick buried a three-pointer. However, Roanoke Christian would hold on for the one-point win, 36-35.
Hamrick, who had a game-high 23 points for Roanoke Catholic, also connected on a trio of 3-pointers.
Amanda Puckett led Roanoke Valley Christian with 10 points.
