Franklin County Coaches Notes:
#1 singles, Senior Kristen Bowling, resumed her strong play from last year with wins in singles and doubles. She started out a bit slow the first few games but got on a roll about half way through the first set. Kristen has improved her serve and net game a lot since last season.
#2 singles, Senior Carrie Hughes, lost a heartbreaking match, but a well fought match, displaying 2 set tiebreakers and a final overall 3rd set 10 point tiebreaker (it couldn't have been any closer). Carrie then proceeded to play with Kristen Bowling in #1 doubles and both looked very strong.
#3 singles, Junior Jessica Corn also lost in an overall 3rd set tiebreaker but teamed up with Molly Hutcherson in doubles for a victory
#4 singles, Sophomore Molly Hutcherson, won both her singles and doubles with Jessica Corn in strong fashion.
#5 singles, Senior Jamie Venning, won both her singles and #3 doubles with Lauren English in strong fashion.
#6 singles, Senior Lauren English, won both her singles and #3 doubles with Jamie Venning in strong fashion.
"The Lady Eagles are much improved, #1 through #6, since last year, and I expect them to improve on their 9-7 record from last year," Franklin County head coach Mike Hagan. "We are very strong in doubles and our work on volleys, overheads and serves in the preseason is making us a very strong team. We have been excellent in doubles for the last two years, but I even think better this year."
The next match for the Lady Eagles is Wednesday, when Franklin County travels to Cave Spring..
