The Patriots won their Group AAA, boys quarterfinal game over the Langley Saxons, 58-36, Saturday afternoon in Salem.
Patrick Henry (16-4) shut out Langley (16-4) in the first quarter, 14-0. The Patriots got seven points apiece from Terrell Wilson and Tymon Smith. The Saxons never recovered.
Langley scored it’s first basket of the game at the 6:20 mark of the second quarter. They were only able to draw within 13 at the half, 26-13.
A slow third quarter saw the Patriots maintain their 13-point lead, 34-21.
In the fourth, Patrick Henry used unanswered runs of seven and six to go stretch the lead to 21. An emphatic dunk by Tymon Smith with 1:41 to go put the icing on the cake for the Patriots, who will head to Richmond to play Petersburg on Wednesday at 8:45 at the Siegel Center.
Smith led the winners with 15 points. Kalleone Moret added 14 and Terrell Wilson chipped in 12.
Joey Kiffe led the Saxons with 10 points.
