Patrick Henry journeyed to Blacksburg Tuesday afternoon and swept Blacksburg in a dual swim meet at the Blacksburg Aquatic Center. The Patriot girls won 128-39, while their boys’ team came away a 94-74 winner.
In the boys' 200-yard medley relay, the PH boys (Daniel Morrill, Noah Ammen, Liam Mulcahy and Locher Grove was first with a time of 1:52.25. The Blacksburg team of Zachary Phelps, Garrett Skinner, Madison Wilkins and Thomas Treser finished second with a time of 1:52.43, while the PH girls' team of Caitlin Privott, Jordyn Jones, Madeline Winn and Caroline Brailsford was first with a time of 2:04.26. Blacksburg ( Lauren Frizzell, Paula Azurmendi, Kat Everett and Kelsey Whitesell ) was second with a time of 2:15.45.
In the boys' 200-yard freestyle relays, PH’s (Ammen, Bo Poole, Mulcahy, Grove) was first with a time of 1:42.55, while the Blacksburg team of Joseph Widrig, Wilkins, Tresser and Skinner was second with a time of 1:44.97. On the girls’ side, PH’s Brailsford, Winn, Hannah Gross, Privott took first place with a time of 1:55.75.
The Blacksburg boys’ team of Widrig, Matthew Vaught, Treser and Phelps took the top spot in the 400-yard freestyle relays with a time of 3:55.26 and PH (Morrill, Poole, Niemann Pest, Mulcahy) was second with a time of 4:00.13. On the girls’ side, PH’s (Anne Baldridge, Erica Bowman, Hannah Gross. Grace Casola) was first with a time of 4:25.48, while the BHS girls’ team of Frizzell, Ellen Veith, Whitesell and Everett was second with a time of 4:28.73.
PH’s Morrill was first in the boys’ 200-yard freestyle with a time of 2:00.95 and Blacksburg’s Skinner was second with a time of 2:06.64. On the girls’ side, Winn was first with a time of 2:11.85, while Abby Mertes of Blacksburg was fourth with a time of 2:50.84.
In the boys' 200-yard IM, BHS’ Wilkins came home first with a time of 2:20.33 and PH’s Wilson Farthing was third with a time of 2:54.34. On the girls’ side, PH’s Privott was first with a time of 2:21.47 and Everett was second with a time of 2:36.45.
In the boys’ 50-yard freestyle, Ammen was first with a time of 24.82 and BHS’ Treser took third in a time of 25.63 seconds. Brailsford won the girls’ side with a time of 28.81, while Jane Spencer of Blacksburg was fourth with a time of 37.95..
In the boys' 100-yard butterfly, Blacksburg’s Zachary Phelps was the top swimmer with a time of 59.87 and Mulcahy was second with a time of 1:06.98. Winn was first with at time of 1:06.31, while BHS’ Everett was second with a time of 1:09.16.
Phelps also came home in first in the boys’ 100-yard freestyle with a time of 51.39, while Erica Bowman of the Patriots was first on the girls’ side with a time of 1:05.28.
In the girls’500-yard freestyle, Blacksburg’s Frizzell finished first with a time of 5:29.67 and PH’s Morrill was first on the boys’ side with a time of 5:22.97.
PH’s Poole was first in the boys’ 100-yard backstroke with a time of 1:05.17 and BHS’ Matthew Conner was fourth with a time 1:45.28. Privott of PH was first on the girls’ side with a time of 1:08.36, while Whtesell was fourth in the same event with a time of 1:36.43.
In the 100-yard breaststroke, PH’s Ammen was first with a time of 1:12.05 and Blacksburg’s Wilkins claimed second place with a time of 1:14.48. On the girls’ side Patrick Henry’s Jones took first with a time of 1:19.40, while Ellen Veith of Blacksburg was third with a time of 1:29.58.
