All of the higher seeds won their matches, as the Western Valley District girls tennis tournament started Thursday evening at Franklin County Park with quarterfinal action.

Top seeded Betsy Ezell, GW Danville, beat Blair Jeffries from Halifax, 6-2, 6-1
Fourth seeded Jessica Palmer, Halifax, beat Franklin County's 5th seeded Carrie Hughes, 4-6, 6-3, 7-6 (Tiebreaker 7-4) in a three hour match.
Third seeded Kristen Bowling, Franklin Co. beat Patrick Henry's Laura Hall, 6-2, 6-2
Second seeded Allison Link, Patrick Henry, beat Lindsey Harris, from GW Danville, 6-0, 6-0
Doubles Results
Top seeded Ezell and Harris, GW Danville, beat Megan Owen and Kimberly Farmer from Halifax, 6-2, 6-1
Fourth seeded Palmer and Jeffries from Halifax, beat fifth seeded Jessica Corn and Molly Hutcherson from Franklin Co. in a long match, 4-6, 6-1, 7-5
Third seeded, Link and Kim Russell, from Patrick Henry, beat Kowitz and Kamilova from GW Danville, 6-0, 6-0
Second seeded Bowling and Hughes from Franklin Co. beat Laura Hall and Allie Greene from Patrick Henry, 6-2, 6-0
The next round, the semifinals, will be held on Tuesday, May 11 at 5 PM, but the time may be moved up to 4 PM.
