The Western Valley District Girls Singles and Doubles continued Thursday night in Rocky Mount from Tuesday.

The #1 doubles team from Franklin County of Leanna Carter and Molly Hutcherson beat GW Danville's Betsey Ezell and Lyndsey Harris by a score of 6-6 overall tiebreaker 11-9, 6-4.  GW Danville had been 4-2 in the regular season in the District and had beaten the team from Franklin County twice.
 
In the other doubles match Franklin County's #2 doubles team of Whitney Amos and Nora Ferguson beat Patrick Henry's #1 doubles team of Allison Link and Allie Greene by a score of 7-5, 1-6, 6-3.  The team from Patrick Henry had been undefeated in the District against other #1 doubles teams and Franklin County had been unbeaten but against #2 teams.  This put both the #1 and #2 doubles teams from Franklin County in the final.
 
In the singles finals there was a repeat of participants this year from last year as Betsey Ezell from GW Danville beat Allison Link from Patrick Henry, 6-4, 6-1
 
The doubles final between Hutcherson and Carter against their teammates Whitney Amos and Nora Hutcherson was suspended by an oncoming thunderstorm .  Hutcherson and Carter had won the first set 7-5  but Amos and Ferguson were up the second set 3-1 with Hutcherson serving at 15-30.  The match will be continued at Franklin County Parks and Recreation after school today (Friday).
 
The representatives from the Western Valley District are set to play in Chartottesville on May 24th and 25th in regional play as Ezell, #1, and Link, #2, will represent in the singles, and the teams of Amos and Ferguson and Hutcherson and Carter be the two doubles team, as #1 and #2 will be decided Friday.
