Christianburg Girls, PH Boys Win Colonial Classic

The Christiansburg girls and Patrick Henry boys won the team titles, as William Fleming showcased its new outdoor track facility with the running of the 1st Annual Colonel Classic Invitational Saturday in Roanoke.


Girls Events

Christiansburg's Rochelle Evans was a double-winner and Allison Sherman claimed the top spot in the 3,200 meters, as the Blue Demons topped Cave Spring 83-73 for the team title. Hidden Valley was third with 72 points, followed by Franklin County (50) and James River (48) to round out the top 5 teams. Lord Botetourt was sixth with 38 points, followed by George Washington (36), Patrick Henry-Roanoke (31), Northside (31), William Fleming (23), Halifax County (20), Staunton River (12) and William Byrd (9).

In the 100-meter dash, George Washington's De'Ana Forbes was first with a time of 12.76 seconds. She was also first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 16.06 seconds.

Annie LeHardy of Hidden Valley finished first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 27.26 seconds and the 400-meters with a time of 1:00.02

In the 800-meters, Haley Cutright of Hidden Valley was first with a time of 2:22.37.

Cave Spring's Katie Fortner won the 1600-meters with a time of 5:09.22.

Allison Sherman of Christiansburg won the 3200-meters with a time of 11:46.52.

In the 300-meter hurdles, Carolyn Bethel of Hidden Valley was first with a time of 49.27 seconds.

Franklin County (A'Layah Tyree. Latisha Martin, Erica Hancock, Zarkia Mattox) was first in the 4x100 meter relays with a time of 52.64 seconds.

In the 4x400 meter relays, Hidden Valley (Carolyn Bethel, Lauren Puckett, Ashleigh Torres, Elizabeth Camilletti) was first with a time of 4:19.23.

Hidden Valley (Bethel, LeHardy, Cutright, Torres) won the 4x800 meter relays with a time of 9:34.2.

In the High Jump, James River's Savanna Sharkey was first with a mark of 5-00.

Franklin County's Amanda Eichenlaun won the Pole Vault with a mark of 7-06.00.

Reanna Hamm of James River won the Lonh Jump with a mark of 16-03.00.

In the triple jump, Cave Spring's Nicole Smith was first with a mark of 32-10.00.

Rochelle Evans of Christiansburg won both the shot put (41-07.00) and the discus (130-07).


Boys Events

In a battle of Western Valley District foes, Patrick Henry edged out Franklin County, 79-76, for the boys team title. Christiansburg was third with 63 points, followed by William Fleming (55) and Staunton River (54) to round out the top 5 teams. Heritage was sixth with 47 points, followed by William Byrd (42), Halifax (39), Lord Botetourt (25), George Washington (14), Northside (12), Cave Spring (10), Hidden Valley (8) and James River (3).

In the 100-meter dash, DeVaughn Benion, Jr., of George Washington was first with a time of 11;34 seconds.

Terrence Boyd of Halifax was first in the 200-meter dash with a time of 23.12.

In the 400-meter's, William Fleming's Kahalil Bonds finished first with a time of 52.45 seconds.

William Byrd's Chris Boud took the top spot in the 800-meters with a time of 2:03.58.

In the 1600-meters, Patrick Henry's Patrick Woodford was first with a time of 4:28.08. He also took the top spot in the 3200-meters with a time of 9:55.37.

Heritage's Xavier Waller was first in the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 15.50 seconds.

Patrick Henry's Jha-Liel Harden finished first in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 41.12 seocnds.

In the 4x100-meter relays, Patrick Henry (David Prince, Jha-liel Harden, Dominique Campbell, Shaheed Fitzgerald) finished first with a time of 44.74 seconds.

Christiansburg (Nicholas Restrepo, BK Evans, Jordan McCoy, Chris Gueste) finished first with a time of 3:33.37.

In the 4x800-meter relays, William Byrd (Trey Gibson, Chris Boyd, Johnathan Murphy, Kevin O'Connor) was first with a time of 8:23.07.

William Byrd's Justin Smith finished first in the high jump with a mark of 6-07.

In the pole vault, Coy Seneff of Franklin County was first with a distance of 12-00.

Patrick Henry's David Prince took the top spot in the long jump with a mark of 2109.50.

In the triple jump, Heritage's Xavier Calloway was first with a mark of 42-03.

Franklin County's Joe Morris won the shot put (49-04) and the discus (140-01).
