Unbeaten Gar-Field used a strong third quarter to knock off William Fleming in non-district boys' basketball action Friday night in the championship game of the K-Guard Classic being played at the Salem Civic Center.
The Gobblers (11-0) staked out to a 16-10 first quarter lead and upped their advantage to 26-20 at the break. Gar-Field outscored the Colonels (8-2) 20-15 in the third quarter to extend its lead to 46-35 going into the final quarter. William Fleming did mke a small run the fourth quarter, however, it wasn't enough, as Gar-Field escaped with the seven-point win and the 2011 K-Guard championship trophy.
Curtis Lovitt led Gar-Field with a game-high 22 points.Zach Fong scored 14 points and Marcus Knight chipped in with 13 points.
Miles Henderson paced William Fleming with 13 points and Shalik Law added 10 points.
